What are the consequences of the driver shortage? When gasoline deliveries slowed, consumers panicked and the pumps ran dry. Supermarkets and restaurants find it difficult to stock certain foods. At first, a popular chain of chicken restaurants, Nando’s, closed some stores when it ran out of – wait – chicken, partly due to a lack of drivers.

Gasoline shortages have eased, but more are expected to continue as Britain scrambles to attract drivers. And after the Covid “canceled” last Christmas, people now worry about finding their favorite holiday foods. This includes turkeys and hogs for cover.
