Melbourne studies earthquake damage

The 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck south-eastern Australia on Wednesday morning, damaging buildings and forcing residents to flee their homes. There were no immediate reports of serious injuries or fatalities.

“I would wake up and my whole room was shaking. I thought it was a dream or something, and then I just – everybody texted me, “What happened?” It’s just crazy. It all happened at the same time, yeah. “I live a few blocks from here. And I was in my apartment, and all of a sudden everything started to shake, and I wasn’t sure – I thought the upstairs neighbors were doing a, you know, a high intensity workout. And yes, the TV was really moving, and I looked outside, and from my balcony you could see the other – the other buildings were moving too, and the power lines were shaking. And I thought it might have been something to do with the ground. But yeah, I didn’t know it was an earthquake.
